Katalon Product Roundup September 2025

Product Marketing Updated on

September brings a powerful wave of innovation across the Katalon Platform, led by the new StudioAssist Agent Mode, AI-driven insights in TestOps, and smarter, more resilient executions in TestCloud.

This month’s updates redefine productivity for modern QA teams, helping testers code faster, debug smarter, and execute at scale with confidence.

StudioAssist Agent Mode: AI at the speed of testing

Katalon Studio introduces StudioAssist Agent Mode, expanding beyond the existing ‘Ask Mode’ to deliver a true AI co-pilot for test automation. Now integrated with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, including two default Katalon MCP endpoints, StudioAssist delivers more accurate, context-aware responses powered by Katalon’s own documentation and built-in keywords.

Highlights:

  • Add HTTP-based MCP servers (authentication support will be available soon).
  • Two Katalon MCP servers are included by default: one for Katalon documentation and one specialized for Studio automation tasks.
  • Generate and edit test cases, create custom keywords, or query project details (object IDs, existing keywords, test cases), all through conversational AI.

Parallelize Test Cases for faster executions

The new Parallelize Test Cases mode introduces faster, more efficient test execution in TestCloud. Instead of running test cases in your suite sequentially, TestCloud now distributes them across available sessions, helping you complete test suites in a fraction of the time.

  • Runs individual test cases in parallel within a suite or across multiple suites.
  • Optimizes resource usage while maintaining a buffer of sessions for stability.

This update maximizes execution speed and scalability, helping QA teams accelerate regression cycles while maintaining reliable test performance.

Important: Test cases must be independent when running in this mode.

AI-generated dashboard and Report briefing

Manual analysis of multiple dashboards can be time-consuming, and it’s easy to miss critical trends hidden in the data. The new AI Executive Briefing Generator automatically synthesizes information from any TestOps dashboard or report to deliver instant, actionable insights on testing quality, risks, and performance.

Key capabilities:

  • Automated trend analysis: AI identifies patterns across your testing metrics, highlighting improvements, degradations, and anomalies that might otherwise go unnoticed.
  • Risk detection: Surfaces potential quality risks early by analyzing failure patterns, execution trends, and test coverage gaps across different environments and test suites.
  • Prioritized recommendations: Generates specific, data-backed next steps, such as addressing API failure spikes, investigating flaky tests, or focusing on test suites showing degradation.
  • Source attribution: Every insight includes references to its originating data points, enabling quick validation and deeper drill-downs.
  • Natural language summaries: Converts complex data into concise, executive-friendly briefings that are easy for both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand.

Perfect for daily stand-ups, release reviews, or executive updates, this turns your TestOps data into clear, decision-ready insights.

Bulk edit profiles and configurations for Test Suite Collections

Managing large Test Suite Collections is now faster and more consistent.

With the new bulk edit profile & configuration feature, users can update execution profiles and configurations across all test suites within a collection, in just a few clicks.

Key benefits:

  • Update all test suites simultaneously.
  • Streamline setup and ensure consistent environment configurations.
  • Eliminate repetitive editing of individual test suites.

This enhancement saves valuable setup time and ensures uniformity across complex automation projects.

Smart retry: Ensuring uninterrupted Test execution

Infrastructure hiccups shouldn’t stop your tests, and now, they won’t.

The new Smart retry feature automatically re-executes failed tests caused by deployment or infrastructure errors (5xx status codes), keeping your runs on track.

Capabilities:

  • Automatic recovery: Retries failed sessions once the root cause is resolved.
  • License-aware: Observes parallel session limits to prevent overuse.
  • Intelligent backoff: Retries with increasing intervals — 4, 8, 16, 32, and 60 minutes.
  • Transparent logging: Each retry is logged with [INFO]: Triggered by Katalon TestCloud Agent (auto-retry after execution error).

Smart Retry reduces manual intervention and ensures mission-critical executions are completed successfully, even under transient conditions.

Terminate executions directly in TestCloud

You can now terminate active TestCloud executions directly from the TestCloud web app, regardless of whether they originated from Katalon Studio or TestOps.

This enhancement fixes the issue where canceled sessions in Studio could remain stuck in TestCloud, holding licenses hostage. Now, you can instantly reclaim TestCloud sessions and maintain full visibility and control over active runs.

File name visibility for Mobile App builds

In the Application page, users can now view each mobile app’s local file name, making it easier to distinguish between builds with identical app names.

This simple yet powerful improvement streamlines build management and ensures accuracy when testing across multiple versions.

Dynamic Test Suites: Schedule and execute on the fly

TestCloud and TestOps now support scheduling and executing Dynamic Test Suites, which are collections of test cases generated or updated at runtime based on defined criteria or external data.

Key highlights:

  • Dynamic criteria display: View the total test case count, with detailed lists revealed after execution.
  • Visual indicators: Dynamic icons and tags appear in suite selection dialogs for clarity.
  • Automatic updates: Syncs automatically with repository or webhook changes.

This gives teams flexible, data-driven control over what runs and when — without manual maintenance.

Common Automation error report

When hundreds of executions fail, knowing which issues truly matter can be daunting.
The new Common Automation Error Report aggregates and visualizes recurring failures across all runs, helping teams focus their debugging efforts where they count most.

Key Features:

  • Failure category distribution: Interactive pie chart view of recurring error types.
  • Error grouping table: Lists total occurrences, affected test cases, and sample logs.
  • Flexible view modes: Switch between Latest Errors Only or All Errors for historical insights.
  • Impact metrics: Measure both frequency and scope of recurring errors.
  • Advanced filtering: Filter by environment, profile, test suite, time range, and more.

Bulk actions for user & project management

Admins can now manage users and roles at scale with new bulk action capabilities in User Management. These updates streamline account administration, strengthen role protection, and cut manual effort across enterprise teams.

  • User Management: Bulk-update roles, assign users to projects or organizations, change license sources, and deactivate users with safeguards for critical roles like Primary Account Admin.
  • Project Members: Add, update, or remove multiple project users at once, while preventing the removal of the last Project Admin.

These enhancements reduce admin workload, speed up onboarding and offboarding, and improve governance across the platform.
