Introducing the MCP Server — Testing Reimagined in Katalon Studio
Hey everyone,
Launch days are always exciting, and today, I couldn’t be happier to share something we’ve been working hard on: the MCP Server in Katalon Studio.
This isn’t just another update. It’s a milestone for StudioAssist and for all of you who are looking to move faster with AI.
With this release, we evolved StudioAssist from simply answering your questions to becoming your Agentic AI assistant. That means it doesn’t just tell you what to do. It helps you create, edit, and orchestrate your testing work automatically.
A New Era for StudioAssist
Until now, you were using StudioAssist in “Ask” mode. It could respond and guide you, but with Agentic mode, it now works with context and intention. You can connect it to HTTP-based MCP servers, and by default, two Katalon MCP servers are included out of the box.
What Powers the Experience
Katalon MCP Server
Now, when you ask StudioAssist for help, its answers are backed by the latest Katalon documentation. That means sharper responses, accurate code, and up-to-date context, whether you’re troubleshooting, exploring new features, or generating test scripts.
Katalon Studio MCP
Here’s where it gets exciting. With Katalon Studio MCP you can:
- Create and edit automated test cases.
- Generate custom keywords.
- Instantly pull project context (IDs, existing test cases, custom keywords).
Think of it as moving from a friendly advisor to a hands-on collaborator working alongside you.
Why This Matters
We know development teams are already using AI to move faster, and you and yourQA teams deserve the same edge. With MCP, testing is no longer a step behind; it scales with development.
Who It’s For
Whether you’re:
- A manual tester making their first move into automation
- A QA engineer learning Katalon and building fast
- Or part of an enterprise team ready to standardize on AI-native testing
The MCP Server is built for you.
