Today, we are excited to announce the January and February release of the Katalon Platform with improvements to TestOps, enhanced security on Katalon Studio, and an important update to TrueTest™.

Key improvements released in the Katalon Platform in January 2024

1. TestCloud

We’ve added a “History” view so you can readily see all TestCloud-based executions and get visibility into which test suites are being executed in which environment.

2. SAML support in Katalon Studio

At Katalon we are committed to continually enhancing the security and user experience for our customers. As part of this ongoing effort, we are upgrading our authentication system to Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) single sign-on (SSO).

What does this mean for you?

Implementing Katalon Studio along with your other tools through SAML will improve the user experience by streamlining access to katalon via a single authentication process.

This process also increases security for a customer since all stored credentials are saved on the customer side rather than the service provider which is Katalon in this case.

3. Latest update on TrueTest™

What is TrueTest?

TrueTest represents a revolutionary approach to automated regression testing. It's driven by real user behavior rather than strictly defined requirements. As part of the Katalon Platform, TrueTest leverages AI and application monitoring to trace user journeys. This allows for the generation of automated tests covering these journeys in your test environment before release, marking a significant advancement for quality engineering teams striving to maintain continuous software quality without sacrificing speed.

We are delighted to announce new improvements to TrueTest. You may recall the announcement of the TrueTest beta program a few months back. This program quickly attracted over 400 participants from more than 100 organizations, providing invaluable feedback that has guided the development of TrueTest.

Following this feedback, we have implemented several key enhancements to improve the TrueTest experience:

Enhanced data privacy measures: Our data privacy protocols have been strengthened, and our documentation expanded. This ensures the highest security standards and provides clear guidance to facilitate the security review and approval processes.
Streamlined installation process: Integration with Google Tag Manager is now supported, making the initial setup process more straightforward.
Fast evaluations and PoCs: The new Chrome extension for TrueTest enables teams to evaluate the tool without needing developers to install it in the application under test.
White-glove onboarding support: Recognizing the unique nature of each application, we offer customized onboarding assistance to ensure a seamless integration process.

Other Enhancements

Katalon Studio recorder can now capture interactions on Rich Text Editor and can be extracted via WebUI.getText commands.
Katalon Studio now supports WebUI.Authenticate for MacOS and Linux for Chrome, Edge Chromium, and Firefox
Katalon Studio now supports capturing and highlighting elements when switching to another tab or window. When there is a new tab or window open you can capture Xpath, verify, and highlight newly captured objects normally.
