Welcome to the latest edition of the Katalon Product Roundup, featuring updates from October 2024. This release includes significant updates across Katalon Studio, TrueTest, and TestCloud, each designed to improve your testing workflows and boost overall efficiency. Read on to discover the latest features!
Katalon Studio 10: Advancing Test Automation with Selenium 4 and Beyond
Optimized for performance, Katalon Studio 10 now integrates Selenium 4.22, enabling faster and smoother test execution, with support for CDP and BiDi without additional dependencies. Key features include:
- Integration with Selenium 4.22
- Allows native use of CDP and BiDi functionality without dependencies.
- Easier deployment in enterprise environments
- Smart Wait and Smart Locator no longer need an extension during execution; they can be enabled/disabled.
- Improved support for iOS 18’s XCUITest and Android’s UiAutomator2 drivers.
- New [WebUI] keywords for improved scripting; it supports “Scroll from origin offset (beta)” and “New tab.”
- Improved performance and lower execution cost with native ARM64 Docker Image; now available for macOS Apple Silicon and Linux ARM users.
TrueTest: Automating Regression Testing with Real User Data
TrueTest improves regression testing by using real user interactions to build and update test cases, removing guesswork and manual upkeep.
TrueTest allows you to:
- Generate user journey maps: AI analyzes common user flows to create relevant maps.
- Capture user interactions: Installs a JavaScript snippet that tracks real-time user behavior.
- Automate test creation: Automatically generates regression tests and updates them as your application evolves.

- Relevant testing: Tests reflect actual user behavior, making them more accurate.
- Automatic updates: Tests stay current with each change to your app.
- Focus on quality: Spend less time on maintenance and more time creating new features.
TrueTest is now available, making it easier to keep your tests relevant and up to date.
Katalon TestCloud: Reliable Testing Across Platforms
Katalon TestCloud now includes the latest version of Appium, increasing device compatibility and expanding testing options.
New in TestCloud:
- TestCloud keyword plugin: Enables advanced testing use cases such as biometrics authentication, geolocation simulation, file upload/download for desktop and mobile, network throttling, and image injection.
- Simply install TestCloud Keyword Plugin in Katalon Studio.
- Configurable Appium version: Tailor tests by selecting the Appium version best suited for testing on real devices. TestCloud defaults to the optimal Appium version based on the device’s OS, but users can explicitly set this in TestCloud Project Settings. [Learn more: Configure Appium version | Katalon Docs]
- App selection in Test Suite Collections: Customize app configurations by selecting specific apps for each test suite in a collection.

- Private device usage: View and manage allocated private devices in the updated Katalon Studio 10.0 UI.
- “Any Device” option for mobile testing: Offers broader selection flexibility with options like “Any Phone/iPhone” or “Any Tablet.”
- Device status visibility: Indicates device availability (e.g., High, Medium, Low) for efficient scheduling.
