Katalon Product Roundup | February 2025
February introduced key enhancements to Katalon Studio, Runtime Engine, and TestCloud, boosting test automation efficiency, performance, and user experience. These updates reinforce our commitment to continuous improvement, enabling teams to test faster and more reliably.
Here’s what’s new this month:
TestCloud's Upgraded Testing Infrastructure
The new TestCloud Hub delivers a more robust and efficient solution for running Selenium tests within the TestCloud ecosystem. It offers optimized performance for faster test execution, enhanced availability for consistent uptime, and improved scalability to handle increased workloads.
This update ensures a unified execution workflow across Katalon Studio and TestCloud Agent with Katalon Runtime Engine. It supports all TestCloud environments, including Windows, Linux, macOS, mobile browsers, and native apps.
Enhanced Video Playback
Studio offers improved video playback for recorded test executions, ensuring better compatibility across media players.
- Adjusted default video codecs: MP4 and MOV use H.264, while WebM uses VP9 for better compression efficiency.
- Added new video format options (WebM, MP4) for browser-based recording.
- Implemented test case names as file names for test case recordings instead of sequential numbers.
TestCloud Tunnel for Secure Enterprise Connectivity
The TestCloud tunnel now supports HTTP2/TCP connection types, improving network compatibility and security. This ensures seamless integration with enterprise infrastructures, allowing more stable and flexible connectivity for various testing environments.
Custom Mobile OS Version for Flexible Test Execution
You can now customize OS versions for test execution using Regular Expressions.
- Increases testing efficiency by enabling concurrent execution across different devices and OS versions.
- Ensures better compatibility and flexibility in mobile testing workflows, reducing test flakiness across environments.
Proxy Support & Browser Updates
Katalon Studio now supports Chrome 132 and Firefox 134, ensuring compatibility with the latest browser versions.
TestCloud has improved HTTP proxy support, enhancing compatibility with AUTs using SOCKS5 proxies. Additionally, Linux browser versions have been updated to Chrome 132, 133 and Firefox 132, 133, 134 for a more stable testing environment.
Streamlined Execution with KRE
Katalon Runtime Engine (KRE) 10.1.0 is now enabled for TestCloud on TestOps, while KRE 9.7.4 remains the default. Tests selecting "latest" will use compatible KRE versions based on browser requirements, ensuring uninterrupted execution. Explicitly choosing KRE 10.1.0 will run tests with that version.
Updated Log and Video Naming Convention
The naming convention for logs and video recordings has been improved for better traceability and test debugging.
- The name of videos and logs now includes the corresponding device’s name: <browser/platformName>.
- This enhancement simplifies log analysis and troubleshooting for large-scale test executions.
