We recently interviewed 1,400 QA professionals in the State of Quality Report 2025 to arrive at these test automation statistics for 2025. 72% of them have up to 10 years of experience, and 16.2% of them have from 6-9 years of experience. The topics we surveyed include:

  • Up to 82% of testers still use manual testing in their day-to-day work. Around 45% of them automate regression testing for better efficiency. Regression testing is also the most automated.
  • The top challenges in achieving quality goals are Insufficient time for thorough testing (55%) and High workload (44%).
  • The main challenges of testers face in their QA career are: 
  • Top automation testing tools/frameworks their team are currently using include Selenium, Postman, Katalon, and Cucumber.
  • 61% expressed an interest in exploring AI-driven testing tools, while another 48% shared that CI/CD tools are their plan to adopt.
  •  72% are using AI (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude) for test case and script generation, another 35% use it for test optimization.
  • 82% QAs believe that AI is going to be important in the next 3-5 years.
  • Up to 51.53% of these testers involved end-users in their testing process. Only 4.9% never do so.
  • 36% recorded positive ROI in their projects, with a decent 21% seeing significant ROI.
  • Most effective strategies for scaling AI in the future include increasing automation coverage (72.88%) and investing in AI/ML (67.16%).
