As the month of May comes to a close, we’re excited to give you an overview of all the new features, improvements, and enhancements we’ve added to the Katalon platform this past month. Let’s dive right into it!

AI: GPT-powered manual test case generation

We are thrilled to announce the first of many upcoming GPT-enabled features: manual test generation in Atlassian Jira, powered by GPT and Katalon TestOps’ integration. This new feature enables Jira users to generate test steps from a single button click within Jira issues. 

The manual test generator parses and analyzes the Jira ticket's description, extracts relevant information about software testing requirements, and outputs a set of comprehensive manual test cases tailored to the described test scenario. Developers, product owners, as well as QA team members can easily create and collaborate on testing efforts for new and existing features early on in the development pipeline.   
 

In the next couple months, we'll release other features that incorporate GPT to enhance the authoring experience, generate API tests, and further extend our support for manual testing.

Expanded onboarding tour to demo how to use Runtime Engine

One of Katalon’s fundamental differentiating characteristics is how easy it is for testers (experts or beginners) to start using Katalon out of the box. The platform requires very little setup and the learning curve is minimal compared to other automation solutions in the market. With the goal to provide you with a swift testing and quality management experience, we have improved the product onboarding tour in Katalon Studio to offer guidance on how to use Katalon Runtime Engine.

This feature is available for all Katalon Studio users and you can start taking advantage of this new product tour right away by navigating to the “Help” menu and selecting “Quick Start Guide”.
