“Finding the right testing tool from all the available automation testing tools is tough. I’ve interviewed over 200 testers and developers on my TestTalks and based on this treasure trove of test automation awesomeness; I created an Ultimate Testing Tools list. Since Publishing it, I’ve gotten a bunch of comments asking why Katalon Studio was not on the list. So I decided to create an episode all around Katalon Studio with automation testing expert Raghav Pal.”, said Joe Colantonio.

In the show, Katalon Studio has been introduced as a free-closed-source test automation application. In general, the software is free to use for your project or to providing automated testing service for your clients but it is prohibited to redistribute/sublicense the tool or embed our software into your products or reverse the software. Katalon Studio uses Apache Groovy, a scripting language for the Java platform. Groovy is a powerful dynamic language, which is ideal for creating test scripts. For test execution, Java libraries and Java compatible languages like JRuby and Jython are supported.

About Raghav Pal

Raghav Pal is an Automation Test Architect with over nine years of experience in Automation, Testing, Dev-ops, and CI. He is the founder and educator on YouTube channel – Automation Step by Step and author of the blogs: automationstepbystep and lifecharger.org.

Raghav started as a JAVA developer initially, however, due to business needs in the organization he moved into testing, he tried his hands on manual testing for a short period before moving into automation testing. He was fascinated by this subject and was amazed to discover how using some tools and scripts, web application testing can be automated and save a lot of time and effort.

Raghav started with automation testing on front-end web applications and then moved into web services testing.
