Lead Quality Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to define and drive Katalon’s automation-first quality strategy, mentor QE team members, and innovate with emerging technologies such as AI. You will ensure scalability and reliability across our platform by embedding quality early, building robust automation frameworks, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams.

Core Responsibilities:

• Define and lead automation-first testing strategy for Katalon’s platform.
• Dogfood Katalon tools to identify gaps and improve product quality.
• Collaborate early in design/feature discussions to embed quality from the start.
• Mentor and coach QEs on automation, best practices, and methodologies.
• Partner with Customer Support to reproduce/resolve defects quickly.
• Leverage AI, cloud, and modern testing tools to improve speed, quality, and efficiency.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in test automation with tools like Katalon, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Strong OOP programming skills (Groovy, Java, or Python).
• Hands-on experience in Web, Mobile, and API testing.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with AI in testing workflows or AI feature validation.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with proven Agile experience.
• Leadership skills to guide QE best practices and quality gates.

Bonus Points

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with performance/security testing and cloud-based test platforms.
• Proficiency in performance testing with tools like K6 or JMeter.
• Familiarity with cloud-based testing platforms such as LambdaTest, Kobiton, BrowserStack, or Sauce Labs.
• Agile/Scrum certification (e.g., PSM I).
