April wasn’t just another release month. It marked the official GA launch of TrueTest™, our AI testing solution that replaces guesswork with tests powered by real user behavior
Unlike traditional tools that rely on scripts and assumptions, TrueTest learns from how users actually interact with your app, then automatically generates and maintains the tests that matter most. See how it works.
This launch marks a bold step toward a smarter future of software quality, and it's only the beginning.
April also delivered a suite of enhancements across Katalon Studio, TestOps, Katalon Runtime Engine, and TestCloud, focusing on intelligent assistance with StudioAssist, enriched reporting capabilities, streamlined Azure DevOps integration, and advancements in mobile testing.
Here’s what we rolled out:
StudioAssist now offers deeper contextual awareness and greater configurability:
Studio now features a revamped HTML report template for Test Suite and Test Suite Collection executions. The new layout improves information organization, making it easier to review test results quickly.
We’ve also added the ability to filter test cases by status. For large reports, an advanced option enables splitting HTML files into a lightweight overview and separate detail files, significantly improving load times and memory usage.
Additionally, a new option autogenerates console log files in the report folder during test execution, automatically splitting them when logs grow large, making post-run troubleshooting more efficient.
Users working across multiple test plans in Azure DevOps can now link test cases in Katalon Studio to test cases in several test plans within the same Azure DevOps (ADO) project. This allows for comprehensive reporting of test results to relevant test plans from a single Katalon Studio project.
Mobile testing is further streamlined with the ability to use custom capabilities defined in project settings directly within the Mobile Recorder and Spy tools. A new “Custom Capabilities” option in the device dropdown allows you to select preconfigured mobile capabilities, saving time and ensuring consistent configurations.
Katalon Studio now supports marking global variables as Protected to help safeguard sensitive data such as passwords and API keys. Protected global variable values are not stored in your project, reducing the risk of leaking sensitive data when working in a shared environment. These values are also masked in logs and reports. It includes a warning prompt if a user attempts to unprotect them.
Complementing this, Katalon Runtime Engine (KRE) allows users to override protected global variables at runtime using the -p_<variable_name> command-line option, enabling secure, dynamic test configuration without exposing sensitive values in the project.
Smart Wait and Smart Locator functionalities are now supported when executing tests on TestCloud from Katalon Studio versions 9.x and 10.x, as well as TestOps. This enhances the reliability and stability of your cloud-based automated tests.
TestOps now supports the latest Katalon Runtime Engine (KRE) versions 9.7.5, 10.1.1, and 10.1.2 for TestCloud executions. KRE 9.7.5 remains the recommended and default version, ensuring access to the latest features and improvements for your cloud test automation.
