Katalon Studio 10.4 introduces a new wave of AI-powered and enterprise-ready capabilities that streamline test creation, maintenance, and analysis. This release focuses on avoiding context switching, simplifying upgrades, and enhancing test intelligence, all designed to make testing faster, smarter, and more reliable.

Feature highlights

1. StudioAssist agent mode with HTTP MCP support

Katalon Studio now supports HTTP-based MCP servers with authentication and ships 13 new Studio MCP tools for building and maintaining end-to-end tests. The TestOps MCP server is also pre-added to connect Studio directly with your Katalon Platform data.

Why it matters: This enhancement minimizes context switching between requirements, test design, and defect creation, keeping all work inside Studio.

What’s new

  • Connect to HTTP MCP servers.
  • Use new tools to get, create, and update Test Suites, Test Suite Collections, and Dynamic Test Suites.
  • Edit custom keywords, manage BDD feature files, and list or generate test data.

2. Automated code migration (Beta)

Automatically update Katalon Studio projects when upgrading from older to newer versions, including transitions such as Java 8 to 17 and Selenium 3 to 4. This feature includes a simple rollback option to undo changes and handles breaking updates across BDD scripts, Selenium, Cucumber, and dependencies.

Why it matters: Upgrading no longer means rewriting or manually adjusting code. Katalon now offers automated version-to-version migration, where others provide only documentation — saving time and reducing support needs.

Capabilities

  • Apply guided recipes for API and library changes like Java 8→17 or Selenium 3→4.
  • Batch refactor BDD scripts and dependencies.
  • Safely revert when needed.

3. AWS Bedrock integration

StudioAssist now supports AWS Bedrock in addition to OpenAI/Azure OpenAI and Gemini, unlocking access to Amazon foundation models under your organization’s AWS IAM, billing, and governance policies.

Why it matters: This ensures enterprise-grade compliance, avoids vendor lock-in, and consolidates AI spend under AWS.

Highlights

  • App-level Bedrock configuration.
  • Works with existing enterprise security baselines and cost controls.
  • Ideal for AWS-centric or regulated environments.

4. AI Test Case failure analysis

StudioAssist automatically analyzes stack traces and summarizes the reasons behind test case or suite failures, embedding the insights directly in HTML and email reports.

Why it matters: This eliminates manual log inspection and makes failure insights accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Highlights

  • Plain-language explanations for common failure patterns.
  • Report-ready summaries for faster triage and communication.
  • Added to StudioAssist prompt library for further custom analysis.

5. Inherit authorization from the parent

Define authentication once at the new API Collection (or folder) level and automatically inherit it across child requests, with optional per-request overrides.

Why it matters: Centralized credentials reduce repetition and configuration errors while maintaining flexibility.

Supports

  • API Key, Bearer, Basic, OAuth 2.0, and more.
  • Environment-based management for dev, stage, and production.
